Check a Japanese supplier's invoice registration number (適格請求書 T-number) against the National Tax Agency's official registry, refreshed daily. Free, no sign-up.
T + 13 digits. Hyphens and full-width characters are fine. For companies, the 13 digits are the corporate number (法人番号). Example: T1180301018771
What this checks
Since October 2023, Japanese businesses issue "qualified invoices" carrying a registration number (T + 13 digits). A wrong or revoked number means the invoice may not be valid for Japanese consumption-tax deduction — and an unverifiable supplier is a due-diligence red flag.
- Companies: shows registered name, address and the corporate number (法人番号)
- Sole proprietors: the NTA stopped publishing names/addresses in bulk data in 2022 — status and dates only
- Each company profile links onward to gBizINFO and the official corporate-number registry
